My Volvo V40 headlight modification page (1)

(new information will be added to the back of the page)

This is how my car is looking before the planned modifications.

I haven't changed a lot to the front, only replaced the stock chrome grill with the eggcrate grill (I have had a painted grill for a few months before swapping it again for the original Volvo grill) and replaced the turn-signal bulbs with Philips SilverVision bulbs.

These bulbs are the normal yellow/orange lights, but with a small coat of silver that keeps the orange glow down when light is shining into the unit but still emit the regular orange light required by law. (more pictures on the next page)

This picture shows the back of the left (driver side) headlight unit, exposing the original cabling of the lights.

You can see in the picture the pink and black cables of the parking light and the white/yellow, green/orange and blue/yellow cables going to the single H2 bulb.

The same picture for the right (passenger) side unit. The cables going to the H2 bulb are the same as on the other side, but the parking light has a yellow and black cable.
And finally a picture of the original height adjustment motor and its connector.
Here is the rear view of a twin headlight. This is not the one I am going to install since the seller sent me the chrome bezel lights by mistake, and the black ones will be coming in later in the week.

Judging by the look of it, the height adjustment connector looks the same, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

The connection of the lights will be a bit more work.

I borrowed this picture from this website, and it shows a possible way to connect the wires of a Phase-I to the twin headlights of the Phase-II model.
